Courtship behavior display

Courtship behavior in animal is a pattern of behavior that precedes the mating and reproduction in a particular animal. The pattern is usually carried out in order by male and female organism. It also varies from organism to another.

The various types of courtship that are found in animal are;
  1. Display
  2. Territoriality
  3. Pairing
  4. Seasonal migration

What is display?

Display is the process which involves a series of fixed pattern of movement or attractive exhibition between mating partner. The partner must respond with appropriately to each others display if the performance is to end in mating.

Types of display

  1. Singing as in Birds, Human being
  2. Nest makingas in Birds
  3. Production of odour by the female to attract the males
  4. Croaking as in toad
  5. Dancingas in man

Courtship behavior in Man

In human being, series of dosplay are carried out in order to attract the opposite sex or partner for mating or reproduction.
some of these display include;
  1. Beautiful and attractive dressing
  2. Facial appearance or expression
  3. Singing with melodious voice
  4. Dancing musical instruments
  5. Use if body spray or perfumes

Courtship behavior display in lizards

The male lizard (Agama lizard) usually display it's bright colors and approaches the female. The female raises her back and lifts her tail vertically. then, the male wags his tail and, nodes his head and grips her by the neck and pushez his tail under her body so that their cloaca come in contact for copulation to to take place.

Courtship behavior display in domestic fowl.

The cock dances round the hen, then lowers his wings side ways from the hen and dance in a staggering manner sideways towards the hen, the male(cock) then beats the lowered wing against the body and the legs as it moves. If the female is ready for the courtship, the cock chases the hen, overtakes her, mounts on her back and pecks on the head while it stoops down and raises her tail feathers exposing her cloaca, mating then takes place.

Pairing

What is pairing?

These involves two or more organisms(usually male and female) which separats themselves in a group to form mating pair or partner. Pairing may be very brief i.e just for a mating act only or for a life time. Animals that undergo pairing include man, toad, fish, termite etc
